Paris, Charles Picquet, [circa 1814]/ [1807].

A hand-coloured engraved map (overall dimensions approximately 550 × 920 mm), dissected into 24 panels and mounted on linen (folding down to approximately 185 × 112 mm); first panel with the publisher's small printed paper label on the reverse (with the date 1814 added in ink).

Linen backing folded in at the edges, occasionally over the printed border; a few panels lifting slightly at the edges; trifling signs of use and age; in very good condition.

A later issue of this handsome map, updated to show the contraction of France after the Treaty of Fontainebleau and Napoleon's exile to Elba. Beneath the printed border is an additional legend, not present in earlier issues, showing 'Nouvelle limite du Royaume de France suivant le traité signé le 31 Mai 1814', and 'Ancienne limite de l'Empire Français'. Apart from the removal of the date, the elaborate title cartouche remains unchanged, complete with its dedication to the Emperor.

The left-hand portion of the sheet is a large table entitled 'Tableau des départements de la France'; the map itself measures approximately 540 × 675 mm, including a small fold-out section outside the printed border at the bottom right.
