Later half calf and marbled papered boards, with the spine blind-decorated in gilt-ruled compartments, with a contrasting leather title-label; all edges dyed (now a little unevenly); covers a little rubbed and bumped, with minor wear to the corners; minimal restoration to the front joint, with trifling loss near the head; endpapers offset; three consecutive leaves (pages 39-44) have an internal split along part of the leading margin; minimal signs of use and age; an excellent copy.
There are (relevant) contemporary annotations in ink in the margins of pages 39 and 47. The first comprehensive English guidebook to Italy.
