Plum-coloured cloth lettered in silver on the spine; edges darkened; contemporary Sydney new bookseller's inkstamp on the front pastedown; an excellent copy with the unclipped dustwrapper a little marked and lightly chipped on the spine, and with slight wear to the head of the hinge of the rear flap.
'New thrills by a new writer' (front cover). The first book by Adelaide-born Geraldine Halls (1919-1996), and the author's 'only mystery story set in Australia, in Sydney. Mat Shelton, acquitted of a murder charge, is being followed' (Loder, page 126). She won the Edgar Allan Poe Award in 1954 for 'Beat not the Bones'.
