London, Collins, 1941 [first edition].

'"The Butterfly" is the story of a spinster lady who falls in love with a commercial traveller and is finally murdered by him. That baldly, is the plot, but Martin Armstrong makes literature of it by the power of his characterisation and by the slow suspense that leads to the climax' (dustwrapper blurb). Martin Donisthorpe Armstrong (1882-1974) was an English critic, poet and short-story writer. The dustwrapper design is by M. Levetus.
