Quarto, 31, [1] (colophon) pages plus 16 plates (10 of them panoramas).

Decorated wrappers lightly creased and marked, with two tiny cuts to the rear one; last leaf torn slightly near the staples (which are put through the inner margins); an excellent copy.

Bulletin Number 1 in the important Bulletin of the Northern Territory series. 'The members of the expedition, consisting of Professor Baldwin Spencer, Professor Gilruth, Dr. Woolnough, and Dr. A. Breindl, reached Darwin on 15th June, 1911.' Before departing for Thursday Island on 7 August, the members of the expedition travelled far and wide, observing and collecting information in their various areas of specialization. Spencer 'was collecting information from members of the Worgait and Larakia tribes', before spending some time on Melville Island. He then went south to Pine Creek, whence the party travelled overland 'to the Katherine River, then down the Roper River to the Gulf of Carpentaria'; three pages are devoted to his observations. The bulk of the bulletin is Gilruth's 'Report on Domesticated Animals in the Northern Territory' (pages 15-31).
