Large quarto, [ii] (half-title leaf to the cumulative Volume 1), xiv(a)-xiv(b) (Contents of Volume 1), xxviii (last blank) pages plus 72 full-page colour plates, each with a leaf of descriptive text (Volume 1), plus Plates 73-96 (full-page colour plates, each with a leaf of descriptive text, with the signatures unsewn and loose, as issued) (Part IV).

Quarter gilt-pictorial morocco and cloth slightly bumped at the head and foot of the spine; offset tape marks to the endpapers (confined mainly to the flyleaves); ownership details on the front flyleaf; an excellent copy with the dustwrapper lightly chipped, a little torn, and lightly discoloured by the leather spine (Volume 1). Flush-cut printed wrappers (not attached, as issued) with some minor conservation work; in excellent condition (Part IV).

'An Australian Society Publication'. Number 798 of 1030 sets, comprising the first four parts of a proposed series of 25 parts. Only these first four parts were ever published in this format; the whole series was eventually published as one volume in a reduced format in 1969.
