London, Longman, Brown, Green and Longmans, 1845.
Octavo, xiv, 362 pages.
Original blind-decorated cloth, all edges uncut; covers a little rubbed and bumped, with trifling wear to the foot of the rear hinge; spine sunned; front flyleaf removed; minor signs of use and age; a very good copy, albeit with the armorial bookplate of the 'City of Adelaide, Corporation Library, Town Hall' on the pastedown, and the large circular rubber-stamp of the Corporation on about a dozen pages.
These embellishments strongly suggest this copy comes from the collection of Charles Glover (erstwhile Lord Mayor of Adelaide) - some 2787 lots of his books were sold by auction over five days in late 1970. The first issue of this book, also published in 1845, has the title 'Impressions of Australia Felix, during Four Years' Residence in that Colony ...'. Ferguson 4075 records that is has a frontispiece ('Dance of the Port Phillip Natives') and 32 pages of advertisements. The issue offered here is Ferguson 4076 (although it is stated there that the copy in the Ferguson Collection does have the frontispiece, which this copy clearly never contained). The Australian content is predominantly modern-day Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia.
