Two Dianas in Somaliland. The Record of a Shooting Trip
London, John Lane, The Bodley Head, 1908.
Octavo, x, 306, [2], 16 (publisher's advertisements) pages plus 25 plates (from photographs).
Gilt-decorated red cloth, top edge gilt, others uncut; covers a little marked; slight wear to the head of the spine, with one tiny split; endpapers offset; a very good copy.
The decidedly arch (if not waspish) account of a hunting safari undertaken by two Edwardian ladies, Agnes Herbert and her cousin Cecily, in Somaliland in 1906. The tone is set by Miss Herbert's dedication: 'To the Leader of the Opposition Shoot, Soldier, Shikari, and Sometime Misogynist'.
